Simplifying Salesforce Data Loading

As a Salesforce Admin, you have undoubtedly been working with data loading tools, like Data Import Wizard or Data Loader. While these free tools are great for Admins, often business end-users struggle when they need to use them to upload data in bulk to Salesforce.

Data Loading process

A typical process looks as follow:

It usually all starts with a source Excel file; which needs to be exported to a CSV in order to be processed. But before you can export, often you will need to do your lookups manually. For instance, if a new Contact should be linked to an existing Account, you will need to get the Account ID and put it into the right column in your Excel. Using the Account Name to match is not supported…

When the user has prepared his data, he uploads the CSV file into the data loading tool. The user has to map the column headers of the CSV to Salesforce fields manually, which is also a step that you’d rather not ask of your users.
